Summer Wrap up,,,,,,,,  now this will take some time........
After we had given up hope, great news that Rosthwaite Love Potion has returned a positive test to Weston Sun.  Yes it will be a late one but since the dear girl is already 17 (which ain't young for a t/b) we are pleased she has conceived.

Mares in foal -
What a long dry breeding season it was for everyone.  Thankfully we have ended up with 7 mares in foal.  All the mares with foals at foot have been rested this season due to the severe drought conditions.   So we enlisted some of the younger girls to assist with the work this year.

Latest foal News Up to January 2007
Unfortunately Baby Doll of Astral has lost her foal and is going to be rejoined to Aspiration of Sefton for a 2007-08 foal.

Lady Marlin popped out her GORGEOUS colt nearly to the day, just a day prior to due date.  He is a ripper, all legs, front, correct confirmation and very friendly. Visit our foals page for photos .........................  click here

LJS Fairtime had a filly on the 4th of January.  Very petite and RP in type, this young lady has a huge future ahead of her and with her English bloodlines will make an invaluable broodmare.

December Wrap Up
Our lovely two year old Weston Mirage colt Salisbury Tribute is going to be a daddy.  He served our new Galloway mare Riverlodge Serenity and she is due in November.   Will be an interesting cross, both have the kindest of natures and fine bone.

"Rumours" the beautiful T/B mare by Toy Pindarri and dam of our Salisbury Hot Gossip (and successful Galloways Janevelyn Memphis (recent ribbon winner at Canberra Royal 2007) and J Manchester (4th Led 14-14.2hh SHCQ Hygain Masters 2006) is now a permanent fixture to our broodmare band (thank you Frank Cincotta of Grandeur Stud).  We look forward to breeding many more Galloway super stars with her in the future.

Anna Zorzetti and Salisbury Savanna attended Kilmore Agricultural show with dear "Inky" winning his led RP class.

December heralded the long awaited arrival of Ascot Toy Soldier and what a lovely man he is to have around the farm.   Toy got busy to work and we can now report that 5 mares are in foal to him for season 2007, 3 of our own and 2 outside ladies.  Due to the drought visiting mare numbers were low but the good news is Toy is staying on to continue his Victorian Stud duties and will be available for Spring 2007.  So get in early and breed yourself a beautiful baby.

We also joined in with our first Stud Open Day with the G&PRPG. It was a very busy few days leading up to the weekend but worth it, lovely to meet new people and share banter about our love of horses and in particular "Breeding" ponies.

November News Updated 04-03-07
Kirreway View-Point arrives at Salisbury Stud.
Thanks to Michelle Chaundy for allowing us to own this lovely Cats Whiskers mare. Rather a successfull in-hand mare in her day, she stands at 14hh and is a true black with sweeping front.   We look forward to putting her to Ascot Toy Soldier this season and in the future joining her with both our colts.

Salisbury Lord Amsbury and Bree Petrie had a very good event at Hygain 2006.   The gorgeous little "Baxter" totally thrilled us to take out 4th in the intermediate Large Pony.  He has really come a long way in the past few months and Bree and co owner Judy Ivory are to be congratulated for all their care and hard work.

Salisbury Suspicious Love attended Traralgon Agricultural Show, to win her Senior Led Riding Pony Class.

A quiet Riding Pony Pageant for Salisbury Stud only taking Salisbury Suspicious Love.   She did us proud placing 2nd in a extremely competitive Senior Riding Pony mare class 12.2-13.2hh and 3rd in the Part Welsh Mare.    Salisbury Savanna also attended and I was very proud to led him in his class for owner Anna Zorzetti.   "Inky" was a good boy and although a bit nervous it didn't take him too long to understand what was required (especially standing up for judging).   He won his class and in the Championship didn't put a foot wrong.   Congratulations to Anna on preparing him so beautifully, he has grown into a very handsome Galloway in deed.

Salisbury My Guy & Salisbury Tribute both attended the GRPG Y/S show at Tonimbuk Equestrian Centre both coming home with a Reserve Champion, S My Guy in the Part Welsh ring and S Tribute in the Riding Pony ring.  Both boys were beautifully behaved.  This was Tribute's last show for season as he is now to start serving mares.

Salisbury Eclipse is doing well for owner Ashlee Harrison, winning Champion Ridden Hack at Sale Show 2006.

Salisbury Savanna competed at Whittlesea Agricultural Show winning his RP led class.   Owner Anna Zorzetti was very pleased with how "Inky" handled his first show.

Barakee Olivia, dam of S Suspicious Love and Puzzle, produced a gorgeous leggy Chestnut colt late at night (around 11.30pm) on the 11th of November.   Very pretty and full of spunk, we just love him to pieces and have named him Salisbury Sunset, paddock name Archie (because he is a red-head).

Three foals down and three to go.   Due at the start of January (literally as I type) is our beautiful T/B mare Lady Marlin (Kel).   Kel has already produced for us S Savanna (owned by Anna Zorzetti) and S Satine (ready to hit the show ring any day now).   Kel is in foal to Myscal Encore, the sire of dual Supreme Riding Pony exhibit at the Summer Royal, Merivale Park Town Fair.   The resultant foal already has a first option taken on it if it is a filly.  We all wait with baited breath and believe me, Kel is keen to see this one pop out too.

Salisbury Pierre is back in the show ring.  Received news from Garydowns stud in WA that one of our favourties has returned to the show ring with a BANG.   At the start of November he was Supreme of Supreme's at Busselton Show 2006 then Supreme at Brunswick (as well as one of his fillies going Champion) and also winning Champion and Supreme at Harvey Show.  What a little super star.   Pierre is a half brother to S Lord Amsbury and S Tribute.

Salisbury Lord Amsbury had a great October for owners Bree Petrie and Judy Ivory.  He got champion ridden Large Pony at his 3rd show, that being Kyabram Annual Ag Show.

Our 2nd foal for the year arrived (two weeks overdue mind you) on October 27th our darling Grace (Salisbury Grace O’Monaco) delivered a superb black colt by LJS Limited Edition. Very pretty, very pony and should mature around 12.2hh.

First show for us: bit slow off the mark this year but we decided to pack up our lovely little Salisbury Tribute and travel over the hills to the Welsh Feature show at Yarra Glen.   Under a UK judge Tribute went Champion Part Welsh Colt or Stallion.   Salisbury My Guy also attended the same show and placed 2nd in a very competitive Part Welsh youngstock class and was awarded Champion Show Hunter in hand, congratulations to owner Jodie Van Bruegel.

Our first foal of the season has finally arrived.   Janevelyn Jazzed Up, full sister to Janevelyn Jazzman, has beaten everyone to it.  Producing a lovely bay colt that has "future saddle star" written all over him.   He should mature large pony (around 13.2-14hh) and hopefully will follow in his uncles hoofsteps.   He will be available for sale at weaning.  Please email if you are interested in this boy being your next saddle super star.  Terms available to approved home.

News from up North.   Salisbury Toy Boy and owner rider Tiffany Lee are really making an impressive at their first few shows.   So far from three shows the awards are amazing, more details to follow.

Congratulations to Jodie Van Bruegel and Salisbury My Guy for getting 2nd in his Riding Pony Class (winner went onto Supreme) and 3rd in his Part Welsh at the first Geelong Royal Show.

Congratulations to Debbie Mackay and her lovely colt (sired by our beloved Weston Mirage) Aspen Way Gala Night pictured here after winning his debut class at Kerang Agricultural Show.

Latest addition to the stables is the gorgeous Anglo Arabian filly Warrawee The Beez Neez (Warrawee Grandee from Warrawee Nadra). Acquired from Janevelyn stud due to their downsizing of show and breeding stock we leased "Beez" with the intention of purchasing her at a later date.  Finally that day has arrived and she is now ALL ours.  Being a full sister to the show ring superstars Warrawee Extreeme & Shakeera she will a great asset to our breeding program. We also hope to show her in the Arabian ring in the near future.

September News Updated 25-10-06

Our lovely saddle pony Salisbury Puzzle is now on lease with Kylie Schmidt of Geelong Vic. We look forward to seeing them out in the show ring once Minty looses some of his "winter padding".  Kylie and horse partner Mark Jones had much success last season with their lovely Galloway mare Naringa Late Addition obtaining top 10 Barastoc Newcomer.

Salisbury Savanna and his devoted mum Anna Zorzetti attended their first show, that being the Whitlesea pre-royal.  Anna said she was so very proud of him, he handled all the sites and sounds including the unavoidable "Waiting around by the horse float".   Congratulations to a truly delightful pair.

Great to hear of news of the ever so beautiful Salisbury Eclipse from his new owner Ashlee Howard Harrison. The pair attended a local gymkhana for their first outing and Eclipse carried Ashlee to champion.  We look forward to hearing more exciting news about their first season together over the coming months.

The first foal by Weston Mirage was a lovely bay filly Janevelyn Madonna.  Now turning 9, Madonna has found herself with the Baxter family and in particular daughter Haylee.  They have only been a team since March 2005 but in that short time they have acquired an impressive show record, winning Australian Champion Ridden Riding Pony at the Australian Arabian Championships, Champion Child's Showpony and Reserve Champion Lightweight Galloway at Toowoomba Royal, Champion Small Galloway Hack at the Northern NSW Hack Championships all in 2006 and qualified for the Grand Nationals twice, just at the beginning of her show career. We look forward to hearing more from Haylee about this very special mare.

Our lovely successful mare Salisbury Suspicious Love has returned home from David Mackay's and as expected she is a delight to ride.   She pops around like a quiet old gal. Watch out for her in the Newcomers ring this season.
Jodie Van Breugel is very pleased with Salisbury My Guys start to his future saddle career.  He is spending time with well known show professional Briony Payne.  Jodie and I visited last week to observe his progress and were delighted at his fluid/soft way of going.   Briony and Guy cut a classy picture.

Weaning
Our one and only 2005 foal is now weaned and what a superb darling he is.
Salisbury Pissaro (pending) is handling the whole experience beyond his years.  He has the quietest, most trainable nature and nothing is a problem for him.   His dam (Dual Nova) is now out with the other broodmares having a well earned rest.

Bunyip Agricultural Show April 1st 2006
The last show for the season (we hope) and with the showgrounds just around the corner we braved the cold and loaded up our lovely colt Sanlirra Supernatural.  Only the one class in the Riding Pony ring under judge John Petty.   "Scotty" hadn't seen side show rides like this before, buzzing around, kids screaming, what a super lad he is, he just froze and looked with startled eyes.  On with the show, Shane and "Scotty" paraded beautifully to win 1st RP Yearling C/F/G, then Champion RP Youngstock, back in for Supreme and you guessed it "Supreme RP exhibit".

Red Hill Agricultural Show March 25th 2006
Shane and I decided to take two of the youngsters out for the day.   Salisbury Tribute, whom had only been to the Summer Royal and Salisbury Something Special, this was to be her third show ever.   Both ponies were a credit to their sire Weston Mirage, they were so beautifully mannered and quiet, a true delight to take to a show.   Salisbury Tribute (JJ), led by Shane (therefore BOTH at their 2nd show ever) won both the led Riding Pony Stallion or Colt and the led Part Welsh stallion or colt and placed 2nd in a competitive Open Breed Yearling C/F/G.   Salisbury Something Special (Coco) had a day of red ribbons, placing 2nd in her Riding Pony F/G U 3yo, 2nd in the Part Welsh F/G U 3yo and 2nd in the Open Breed Filly 2 & 3yo. Now they are both turned out for the winter, ending both their debut seasons in the show ring on a high note.

Stud News
LJS Fairtime is now home from spending a lovely couple of months with Raymond and Glenn at Karlana Stud.  She is positive in foal to Annie Coxon's superbly breed LJS Limited Edition and we can not thank Annie, Raymond and Glenn enough for all their effort and care with our girls this past summer.

Stud News
Last weekend we dropped of our lovely successful mare Salisbury Suspicious Love (Ruby) to David Mackay's to start her saddle education.   With the aid of his daughter Jennifer, David has produced many show ring superstars, including his Barastoc winner Phantom Park Empress and this years newcomer Galloway R/U Lynmar Park Madison.
It seems we have finally come to the end of the breeding season, we had the final call from GVEH, Baby Doll of Astral has returned a positive test to Peter Ronzio's Galloway stallion Aspirations of Sefton.

Warragul Show March 4th 2006
Sanlirra Supernatural ("Scotty") had his agricultural show ring debut on the weekend and what a beautifully mannered boy he was.   My partner, Shane Doherty, also had his show ring debut and what success for both of them.  Shane and Scotty took out the Champion RP Youngstock in hand and then in the supreme came up against stable mate's Di Jose and Salisbury Suspicious Love whom had won the Champion RP Senior in hand.   I will never hear the end of it, you guessed it, first show and the boys win Supreme.  Damn........

Preg Test Updated March 2006
Barakee Olivia, the dam of Salisbury Suspicious Love and Puzzle, has returned a positive pregnancy test to Weston Sun.   The resultant foal will be a 3/4 sibling to both as "Sun" is a half brother to Weston Mirage (dec).

LJS Fairtime, dam of the super saddle pony Salisbury Illusion (QLD), has returned a positive test to Annie Coxon's gorgeous stallion LJS Limited Edition.
This will be a very interesting breeding, combining bloodlines of Keston Tribune, Bwlch Zephyr, Keston Royal Occasion, Fairley Rembrandt, Rotherwood Windswept, Wingrove Minkino, Solway Magnolia and a double cross to one of the greatest show ponies in England of all time Pretty Polly, Twylands Troubadour and Rosslyn Sandalwood.

Canberra Royal

Barastoc Horse of the Year Feb 2006
A good weekend for all.  Salisbury Puzzle competed in both the Newcomer and Owner/Rider sections and although we didn't get through to the finals he put in a great effort for a 3 year old.   Weston Mirage (dec) was also represented in the Galloway ring by Lynmar Park Madison, whom was capably ridden by Jennifer Mackay to take out Runner Up Newcomer of the Year.

Confirmed in foal
What a trying season it has been.   Lady Marlin and Baby Doll of Astral have been at Goulburn Valley Equine Hospital for some months now with no positive results to the Johnny (Weston Mirage) semen.   A few weeks back we decided to launch plan B and contacted Judy Ivory to use chilled semen from her lovely stallion Myscal Encore.    Good news phone call at long last and I am sure the technicians at GVEH were relieved, Lady Marlin is positive in foal to Myscal Encore.   "Corey" is breeding some lovely stock, his son Merival Park Town Fair has claimed the coveted Supreme Riding Pony Exhibit in hand at the Summer Royal the past two years.   I am sure a future galloway star in the making.

SA EFA Horse of the Year Feb 2006
Congratulations to the Mirage progeny flying his flag at the SA saddle competition.  Chynna Grove deja vu winning the Large Pony of the year and Janevelyn McCree placing 4th in the Galloway of the Year.   Congratulations also to Janevelyn Jazzman (full brother to our broodmare Janevelyn Jazzed Up) on winning the Galloway of the Year, yet again.

Salisbury Stud Show News
Lang Lang Agricultural Show - Saturday 21st of January.
Even though leading up to the day the weather was less than pleasant and the forecast looked pretty much the same, fortunately for us Lang Lang is only 15 min's away so the decision was made to attend the show but to leave ASAP and head home before the heat.
The Riding Pony ring, officiated by Michelle Chaundey, saw Salisbury Suspicious Love win her senior RP 12.2hh -13.2hh and then continue on her merry way to collect the Champion senior award, qualifying her for this years Champion of Champions.    Suspicious Love also won her open mare class and Puzzle, whom was only going in his newcomer ridden and that was all, placed a creditable third with the jumping ring next door and plenty of distractions he proved yet again what a darling quiet pony he is.

Tasmania Riding Pony Show January 2006
Congratulations to well known pony breeder Ann Patterson and her Weston Mirage (dec) colt Home Vale Occasion.   Ann wrote to tell me that at his first show he went Champion Colt, was pull forward for top 3 in the best Tasmanian bred and behaved beautifully.   Janevelyn Jazz (full sister to our broodmare Jazzed Up and also National Galloway Jazzman) won champion Mare.

Catani Agricultural Show 27/11/2005
As we only had to travel 15 minutes from the farm we decided it would be a great experience for Salisbury Puzzle to attend his first agricultural show.
We saddled up again and through the "rain and snow" (not really, just the rain) "Minty" won a competitive Novice Pony 14hh & Under and placed 4th in his Open Ridden Pony 13-13.2hh.   We only wanted to do the two so as to not make his weekend too long so on a positive end to a great weekend we headed home.  Photo's coming shortly.

Mum's to be
Unfortunately we could not finalise the lease of Rathowen Paragon so our lovely band of mares are "On the road again" in pursuit of romantic interludes (nice way to put it).

Lady Marlin (Kel - Black T/B mare dam of Salisbury Satine) & LJS Fairtime (Dam of Salisbury Illusion) have been delivered to Goulburn Valley Equine Hospital to be inseminated with Weston Mirage (Dec).

Local Show News
On cup day Salisbury Something Special attended her first show and what a little superstar she is.  Following in the footsteps of other Weston Mirage stock this little lady didn't put a foot wrong.   She floated like a dream, behaved at the show like a doll and worked out like a true professional.   In a led up to the RP pageant this show was just a practice run for her and I was pleased when she placed in a strong RP Filly 2/3yo class.  Thanks to Nicole Guppy, Jodie Van Bruegel and Shane for their support and assistance on the day and leading up to it.

Welcome Sanlirra Supernatural
Thanks to Anne & Elise Manley from Sanlirra stud on letting us acquire the lovely yearling colt Sanlirra Supernatural.
Sire Vale Park Spotlight
Dam Urubula Bewitched
He is a full brother to Sanlirra Mink Mittens, Parasol (Chmp Ridden Adel Royal), Just Sailing, Just Heaven, Bewitched and Close Encounters. Stunning colt with a nature to match and should mature 14.2hh.   We had been searching for a colt since loosing our lovely Mirage and "Scotty" seemed the ideal option.   His grandsire  Weston Mascot is a full brother to Mirages dam Model, therefore he has the super mare Keston Minetta in his bloodlines.   His dam Urubula Bewitched is by the imported stallion Rosslayne Blue Peter out of the imported mare Lennel Mittens.

Mirage baby news
Fauve Hauschild owner/breeder of the Weston Mirage baby Black Diamond of Rockingham wrote to tell me how she is looking forward to his up and coming saddle debut at the SA Champion of Champions.   "Weed" as he is affectionately known at home, won his Show Hunter Gelding class at this years Adelaide Royal after having a relaxing year off.

Congratulations to Rowena Cameron, Westbrook QLD, on the recent purchase of our lovely filly "Salisbury Baby Love".   Rowena is looking forward to showing "Amber" and later on she will be a valuable broodmare with her lovely English  bloodlines of Strindesdale Matador, Fairley Emerald,  Rosslyn Sandalwood, Fairley Rembrandt and Chamberlayne Don Juan.   She is a super pretty big moving filly and we are very proud to have offered her for sale.

In open company Oska and his nine year old rider Taylah Andrew's placed in the TOP 10.   What a pair of super stars.

Yearlings ALREADY  !!!!!!!
Very happy with how all the lovely babies have coped with their separation from their mums.   JJ (Salisbury Tribute) is just a stunning colt, one to watch this season as he is already showing that he takes everything in his stride.   Salisbury Satine is another one whom is very impressive, her nature and attitude are beyond her "months" she has a very lay back, loving, fuzzy bear nature.   A total doll (big doll, legs up to her armpits, as they say).

Sold News
Congratulations to Anna Zorzetti on the purchase of the lovely Galloway Gelding Salisbury Savanna.   Anna was looking for a nice quiet young horse to show under saddle and "Inky" and her are just the perfect fit.   We delivered him to his new home and new mum on the 31st of July and he was the first lucky traveler to ride in the new "Salisbury Coach".  Anna has the most beautiful horsy home and Inky is going to get all the love and hugs he has ever dreamed of (he is very sooky and loves a kiss).

Sold News
Congratulations to Jodie Van Bruegel on her recent purchase of Salisbury My Guy.   My Guy will mature around 14.2hh and is by the superb Weston Mirage (DEC).  His dam Baby Dolly of Astral whom is a young unshown mare by Strindesdale Matador, a super moving mare with an easy going nature to boot.  Jodie hopes to bring "Guy" out this season in hand to give him a taste of things to come and in the future they will make a lovely Show Hunter combination as well as take on the Pony Dressage arena.

New Float
We are very excited to have picked up our new triple Amberley Float.   We had this specially designed to enable us to take the youngsters out to shows or to accommodate our future saddle team.  So it is all systems go for next season.  Now just to finish those stables..................

Horse Australia 2005 QLD
Another great performance by Salisbury Illusion in the Large Show Pony Of The Year.   Champion  was Talarook Taffeta, Runnerup  Kolbeach Classic and third went to Salisbury Illusion.    A very good achievement when you see that fourth was the highly awarded Langtree Double Delight.  What a super star he is, in nature as well.  His dam LJS Fairtime is now a permanent broodmare for our stud and we look forward to AI her this season to Mirage for another "Oska".   Congratulations again to Sharon & Taylah Andrews for all their hard work and dedication with "Oska".

Toowomba Royal Show April 2005
Our first major saddle win at a royal show.   For a small stud we are very happy that Salisbury Illusion has carried the stud flag with such great success winning 1st Riding Pony 12.2hh-13.2hh and also winning his ridden novice.   When you consider that in 2000 we only bred two foals, Salisbury Illusion and Salisbury Eclipse (saddle galloway owned by Jennifer McKay) our strike rate is, pretty good.

Congratulations to Oska's owners Shantaylah lodge on doing such a great job with him and the rest of their team.   Other stock by Weston Mirage shown by the Shantaylah team collected: 1st Led Riding Pony Filly, Champion Led Australian Pony and Reserve Ridden Show Hunter (open), 1st & Reserve Champion Led Youngstock Riding Pony (to the eventual supreme RP exhibit).

Wingana Wall Street Final 10 Newcomer at Barastoc 2005
Our dear broodmare Wingana Dolly Parton is the dam of the lovely small pony gelding Wingana Wall Street.   Dolly Parton is a very consistent producer and we are very pleased that since arriving at the stud she has given us two darling fillies, one of those Salisbury Shiraz is for sale.

Salisbury Kindred Spirit did exceptionally well for his young rider Hannah Bishell placing 3th in the Open Pony of the Year 12.2hh and under.
He also placed 4th in the Paced and Mannered class.  Very good results for the young pair that only came together just over 12 months ago.

Catani Agricultural Show
Great to see so many supporters at the Catani Agi show last Sunday (30th of January).   Maybe this time of year is better as most classes had good numbers and quality was very good.   We took along Salisbury Suspicious Love for 1st 3yo open breed filly, 2nd open led 13-14hh, 2nd Part Welsh Filly, 2nd Riding Pony Filly and Reserve Champion RP exhibit.   Congratulations to Renee Cottrill with her lovely Australian Pony Filly Conway Park Shine on winning her Australian Pony Filly class and placing 2nd in the hotly contested (at least 20 ponies) open led pony 12-13hh.   Conway Park Shine is for sale.

Final Foal News for 2004-2005
Our quality producing T/B mare Dual Nova has produced a simply breath taking filly foal by the lovely Anglo Stallion Penmarric Picasso.   Fortunately it was the first day of the Summer Royal (5th of January) so we happened to be up and about ready to put the finishing touches on Salisbury Suspicious Love before we headed of to Werribee.  My partner Shane commented to me that I should go have a closer look at our expectant mum.   As I wandered down the lane way, in the rain, I really thought it was a false alarm but as I studied and stared, to my amazement "there was movement at the station".   We got to the show, fortunately not even running late and we had great news to share with friends (and pics) of our new little bundle of joy.

Summer Royal Results
We had a good show for 2005.   With only three classes between two ponies (the full brother and sister Salisbury Suspicious Love and Salisbury Puzzle) we achieved.

Salisbury Suspicious Love
* 2nd Part Welsh Filly 3yo & U 12.2hh & Over
* 4th Riding Pony Filly 3yo 13.1-14.1hh

Salisbury Puzzle
* 3rd Riding Pony Gelding 3yo & U 12.1 - 13.1hh

Show News VIC RP Pageant
Well it was a good day for the Weston Mirage stock.   They did their sire proud with winning Supreme Y/S exhibit (Janevelyn Hearts on Fire, same accolade that Salisbury Suspicious Love won two years ago).   Hearts on Fire then went on to win the Grand Champion Show Pony in hand exhibit, congratulations Frank & Anthony.  Janevelyn Truth or Dare went Champion Y/S Gelding for my good friend Nicole Guppy (Nicole used to own Salisbury Kindred Spirit now exported to NZ).   In the Y/S gelding line up 3 out of the 4 winners were by Weston Mirage (Salisbury Puzzle, Janevelyn Truth or Dare and Janevelyn Chivas Regal).   It was a great thrill to see so many of his babies out doing so well and credit to their owners and producers for doing such a great job.   Salisbury Puzzle had his show ring debut.  A full brother to Salisbury Suspicious Love, this little grey gelding took it all in his stride and came home with a blue rosette.  He behaved beautifully and has a huge future ahead of him as child's small saddle pony.
For more information on the VIC RP Pageant click here and go to the horsedeals webpage.   It was also the first time that I presented the WESTON MIRAGE MEMORIAL PERPETUAL TROPHY for the Grand Champion Ridden exhibit of the day.  Thank you to the Vic Riding Pony committee for letting me offer this award on behalf of my beloved Johnny and congratulations to Melinda Ralph and her gorgeous Galloway mare Grand Parade a very deserving winner.

Foal Update
The beautifully bred mare Baby Doll of Astral (Strindesdale Matador x Bamborough Raffia) had her first filly foal for the Salisbury Prefix on the 5th of December.   We are naming her Salisbury Baby Love.  She is a lovely leggy chestnut by Langtree Eye of the Storm, whom really is producing very pretty typey ponies and galloway's with allot of elegance about them.

More Foal News 17/11/04
Barakee Olivia, the dam of our beautiful filly Salisbury Suspicious Love, has blessed us with another darling foal, this time a colt by Langtree Eye of the Storm.   A very spunky individual this little guy has the most amazing WHITE eyeliner, obviously he will turn grey but in the meantime it looks very amusing.

Finally - Foal News 13/11/04
Our beautiful T/B mare, Kel, waited until we arrived early Saturday morning to present us with the most divine black filly, with the longest legs.
The whole experience was very exciting for both Shane and I, the first Salisbury Pony we have witnessed coming into the world.   Mum was a gem and was very happy for me to play mid-wife.  There had been so much rain over night (40ml's) that I was trying desperately to stop bubby from flip flopping into the mud as she struggled to gain her footing.   All are happy and healthy.   Pics up shortly.

Foal News - UPDATE 28/10/04
Whilst we busily prepared the nursery for our T/B mare to foal.    Wingana Dolly Parton had ideas of her own and surprised us with a lovely bay filly nearly three weeks early.   Dolly being the consummate professional when it comes to matters of motherhood took it all in her stride and by the time humans help arrived mum and daughter was grazing and drinking happily.  The first official foal to be born on our new property at Garfield.

QLD SHC Horse of the Year
Great news, our little super star, Salisbury Illusion (Oska) went Runner Up Intermediate Large Pony of the Year and he also went top 5 in the open, what a little champ.   Congratulations to Shantaylah lodge for all their hard work.

BULLETIN
Funny thing happened on the weekend.   I hadn't got down to visit Grace & Foal (Grace hasn't moved to Garfield as she was due prior to our foal paddocks being completed).   So happy me is sitting in the sunshine, snapping away taking photo after photo when the new "Filly" decides to have a pee and what do you think I see, hmm, yes well the she is now a HE.   We now have a lovely elegant colt, paddock name JJ.

Foal News - October 2004
At long last Salisbury Grace O' Monaco has had her foal.   My last natural "Mirage" baby.    Chestnut filly, born 5am 4-10-04.  Watch this space for pics.

Salisbury Illusion
Attended the Toowomba Country Championships to get top three in the Novice & Intermediate large pony finals.   Congratulations to Shantaylah Lodge.

In Training
Flint (Roma Vale Nighthawk) has spent the past 3.5 weeks at Colleen Broun's property being halter trained.   We went and visited last weekend to see how things were going and very happy to see how much he has learned.   Colleen is very successful in the Arabian ring winning many multiple Supreme awards, just this year her two lovely boys Torn (Palmgold Tornado) & Kane (Palmgold El Dorado) won Res & Ch respectively at the Australian National Arabian Championships.

Getting settled
We are slowly but surely getting all the horses to our new property at Garfield.   Shane has been setting up the fences and we now have 17 horses there.

Salisbury Ponies doing well
From QLD, Salisbury Illusion went out to his first saddle comp last weekend (July 10th 2004) and won his maiden, novice and Reserve Champion Novice Ridden Exhibit for the day.   All carrying 7 year old rider Taylah Andrews.

Mirage baby updates
Fauve Hauschild tells me her lovely rising 3yo Weston Mirage gelding, Black Diamond of Rockingham has recently been broken in and currently having a well earned holiday.  Fauve also tells me her lovely boy was Runner Up 2yo exhibit at the SA state show last November.

A New Broodmare
Thank you to Annie Coxon for allowing us to purchase the beautiful Syon Splendor daughter "Kirreway Atlantis".   She will be served by Annie's stunning black stallion "LJS Limited Edition" who is by Keston Tribune (UK) out of Fenwick Carmen (IMP).

Queensland State Riding Pony Show April 2004
Janette Crutchfield and myself decide to run away to sunny Queensland to spend time with the Shantaylah Lodge Show team at their State show.  I also got to see my darling Salisbury Illusion (Oska) going under saddle.    Though he will not enter in ridden classes until next season, Sharon Andrews young 7 year old daughter Taylah rode him around to show me just how sweet and kind he is.  I am one proud mummy.

Red Hill Show
Salisbury Suspicious Love competed at Red Hill Agi show and came home with another swag of ribbons.    Reserve Champion Youngstock Filly, Champion Part Welsh, Champion Riding Pony and the eventual Supreme Led Registered Pony, what a little star.

Salisbury Suspicious Love competed at her first agricultural show with GREAT success.  She was Champion Riding Pony Youngstock, Supreme Riding Pony In hand Exhibit, then she went Champion Led Pony Filly U 14hh and then topped it off with winning SUPREME CHAMPION LED EXHIBIT of the whole Neerim show, what a star.

Warrigal Agricultural Show March 2004
Janevelyn Hearst on Fire keeps the candle burning for Weston Mirage winning SUPREME RIDING PONY EXHIBIT.

Due to my riding accident and the loss of Mirage my news has been a bit slow the past few months.   I would though like to take the opportunity to thank everyone who emailed/rang with their kind words, it has all been of great help.

More "Mares in foal"
Great news that Dual Nova is positive in foal to Penmarric Picasso, a lovely Anglo stallion standing at Willowmere stud in Bayles, this delightful boy will cross well this mare.   Dual Nova has produced three foals for the Salisbury Prefix. Her 3yo Black Galloway Gelding Salisbury Eclipse is now owned by David & Jennifer McKay (Jennifer being the current EFA National Junior Rider).  Eclipse, last month, went out to his first show to win Champion Led Galloway.  This is a repeat of what his full brother Salisbury Enigma did at
his first show, he also went Champion Led Galloway.

Mares in foal for Spring 2004
Unfortunately Mirage only got to cover three mares before he passed away.  One of them being my one of favourite mares Salisbury Grace O' Monaco.   The other two mares he got in were Nalinga Chrissy Cat (for Renee & Greg of Pennyroyal Stud) and Lisa Smiths lovely T/B.  The other mares in foal are:

Baby Doll of Astral x Langtree Eye of the storm
Lady Marlin (Pic Right) x Langtree Eye of the storm
Barakee Olivia x Langtree Eye of the storm
Wingana Dolly Parton x Langtree Eye of the storm

SAD NEWS
On the 24th of November our beautiful stallion Weston Mirage lost his fight with a rare blood condition.   It has been a very trying end to 2003 for myself and all those connected to "Johnny".   Time heals and I know one day that the pain will subside.  For the moment his memory lives on in his beautiful babies.
